Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) Privacy Notice

Based on recent questions (link to FAQ), ADUPS provides this Privacy Notice to describe how Version 5.5 of the FOTA software (and subsequent updates thereof as appropriate) collect mobile device data belonging to the end users. This Privacy Notice further describes how ADUPS uses, transfers, and secures this data. ADUPS may revise this Privacy Notice as it updates its FOTA software at any time.


Data collection


The only data that is collected through Version 5.5 (and subsequent updates thereof as appropriate) are basic device information and product model information, such as device type, platform, model, version, IP address, International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), etc. None of this information can be used to identify the users even in combination with other data stored by ADUPS .


Version 5.5 (and subsequent updates thereof as appropriate) do not collect cell tower IDs, application data, or call and Short Message Service (SMS) data. (See FAQ Q2). Version 5.5 (and subsequent updates thereof as appropriate) permanently removed the data collection functionality of Version 5.0 (see FAQ).  Devices that install Version 5.5 (and subsequent updates thereof as appropriate) are no longer vulnerable to the data collection functionality of Version 5.0.


ADUPS uses and stores the collected data only for the purposes of its legitimate business interests and as necessary to provide the FOTA services and customer support to its customers.


Data transfers


ADUPS provides its affiliates with access to data associated with their respective end users. ADUPS has affiliates around the world, including China where ADUPS is headquartered. ADUPS’ server for overseas users is based in Hong Kong which has stringent data protection laws. ADUPS does not share the collected data with any other third-party (including any government agencies). -

Data security

ADUPS has in place appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect the collected data, including employing secure communication protocols for data transmission, employing secure internal data servers for storing collected data, requiring public key authentication for communication between servers within the ADUPS internal network, and maintaining a protected internal network through the use of firewalls and physical safeguards.
